Looks like fun! Hopefully it will be as easy to work on as it appears...

If they could keep it simple, relatively easy to work on and sub $10K, it would be great. (Although I'll take FI and disc brakes.)

The first pic is a photoshop done by a non-affiliated designer, IIRC.
The second pic is most likely. 796 powered. With that seat and tank, they really nailed the retro look. But they didn't incorporate many/any "scrambler" off-road friendly features.

Weren't the original scramblers thumpers similar to the Diana and Sebring?

The motor was pretty much the same. At least it looked identical. I had a black 1965.

Here is a further MCN write-up saying it will have the 796 L-twin. The design is a rendition by MCN and not from Ducati.

Spy shots are rolling in. Looks weird with the one laced tire and one tubeless. The headlight looks weird too. I guess this will fill the hole that the Hypermotard left when it went to the liquid-cooled 820. If, as the article below suggests, Ducati has leaked these spy shots to gauge public reaction, then why didn't they make it look less like a jumbled mess?

Will this be a modern day Moto Morini Camel or will it be more street biased? I'm guessing less dirt and more street.

I rented a Scrambler in Hawaii over Christmas vacation (Chase Rentals). I took it all over Oahu - North Shore, up the NW coast to Ka'ena Point, Tantalus Drive, Diamond Head and the southern coast. I had a blast!
About the bike: the seat got my ass sore within the first hour, which was very annoying. I noticed a fair amount of engine heat when stuck in traffic and at low speeds. The engine was pretty great, but had a weird tendency to "jump ahead" when revving hard, then sort of fall back a few revs and build back up? I don't know if that is a feature or a quirk with that particular bike. Handling was very good, though I found the handlebars a little too pulled back for my preference. Overall I had fun but I won't be buying one for myself.

Looks like it has a goofy handlebar bend. Or maybe they are just rotated too far forward in the clamps?!

It appears to be the stock handlebar. You may be right about the rotation being slightly off.

Forgot about this thread. I bought a Scrambler in December. Agree on the seat being pretty bad, but I got a deal on a Mustang Seat so resolved. Last weekend I swapped on lower bars (about 5" less rise lower...) and it dramatically helps the seat and generally feeling much more in control of the bike.
I don't have the engine racing ahead issue, and neither did the two I demoed. I added a Leo Vince LV One slip on, too.
Overall it's a really fun bike, particularly for the riding I do around the city and on the coast and local back roads. With the stock bars it was pretty unpleasant sustaining 70-75 on the highway, but the low bars took care of that.
Last weekend, somewhere around Pescadero:
Weekend I bought it, descending into Stinson Beach:

Sweet ride, Nevin! And a proper color, too. I'm sure the new seat and lower handlebar make it much more likeable.

"Engine jumping ahead" = slipping clutch?
