I live in Deland, Fl and it's about 30 minutes from Daytona and about 30 minutes from Orlando. Anyone in the area?
I am looking for some suggested rides. One day types. A few weeks ago I rode to Homamossa just to have lunch at Hooters
and enjoy the scenery along the way. I know I can't be the only one in the area........

SPEAK UP I SAY!!!!!!

Hi from Lakeland.  You have a few choices for decent roads.....

Some of the best riding can be found around Claremont/sugarloaf mtn.  Also Brookesville has a lot of small roads around that are good even a few sweepers.  The Lakeland area has some roads around the network of phosphate mines.  The best is Agricola road with several almost 90 degree turns and some decent sweepers.

Can post a map of the roads around lakeland?

I'm also on the west side... Tampa.

I keep the rides short in the summer time (gone by 0630 and home by 1130) but would be up for longer rides as the weather cools.

Howdy,
I'm all for some form of meet up or ride but it seems as though we are coming from different directions. The three places that spring to mind are the oasis at Yeeha Junction,Yallaha German bakery just outside of Howie in the hills and Sleepy Hollow just north of Floral City.Oh one other place might be Mt.Dora.All mentioned places have pretty interesting roads leading to and from with The Oasis having the least but perhaps more centrally located.
John from Clearwater

Most of my off time for at least for the next month/6 weeks is Mon.-Wed.Thanx for in advance for for any and all suggestions.I say lets throw it in the groove and let it wail.

Maybe we could plan a meet and greet somewhere kind of central to everyone?

I'm pretty much down with any activity ride wise, provided I can go,participate and return in a 12 hr.period unfortunately that's all the disposable/manageable recreational time I can come up with for the next couple of months.I should also mention available days are mon.thru.wed.until my next schedule change in 6 weeks. However, probably a good time to start planning.Let me know what you got in mind.

I too need to be back same day. Plus I need at least a couple of weeks noticed for scheduling. It would probably have to be a Monday for me. I hate to say it, but when it comes to places, I haven't been too far out of Deland to really pick. I was thinking a everyone ride to meet for lunch somewhere. Maybe a little riding after lunch as a group (depending on how far from home). What do you guys think?

Hey all

We could meet at the Yelaha bakery and ride the Sugarloaf Mt.loop about 50 mi.of turns and elevation changes. The bakery serves food and we're not far from other good places to ride.About an hour from Deland and 1.5 to 2.5 Hr.from Clearwater depending how circuitous a route is taken to get there.Pretty good roads lead to the rondevous point from all directions.I personally have not been on the mentioned loop although seems as though I have been to just about every other spot in that locale.

If there are any other interested parties from the Tampabay area we could meet at the intersection of U.S.41 & S.R. 54 in Land O' Lakes and depart from there.

Other suggestions? Let'um fly.
