I guess this means Motus has a firm release date? My Shiver dealer, RPM Cycles in Dallas, has the Motus franchise (along with Norton) and they kept saying "It's coming" every time I asked. I figure I can at least get a test ride, price too rich for my wallet. Awesome bike though.

So... pretty video. Nice scenic vistas. Artsy fartsy studio lighting effects.
BUT ... if you are marketing to bike guys, please, for the love of God, turn off the music for at least one or two "dramatic pauses" where we can hear the bikes go bike at full honk .... I couldn't tell if these bikes sounded like Vespa's or Thor's own drums of war.

Went to their website, great specs, pretty pictures, but no hint of price. And price is going to be the 800lb gorilla in the showroom. Under 25K and they're golden, 25-30k and it's still doable, over 30k and it's a curiosity for those with plenty of disposable income meaning they'll never sell enough to maintain production.

An online Cycle World article, 8/1/13 date, had this to say about Motus pricing.
"Two Motus models are available, the $30,975 MST (with a claimed 160 horsepower and 125 foot-pounds of torque) and the $36,975 MST-R (180, 120)."
Kinda headed to a rarified financial atmosphere

The forest area looks like Highway 12 between Torrey and Boulder, the white rock country is Highway 12 between Boulder and Escalante, and the red rock views are from Highway 95. I don't live there but those roads and views are the reason I keep going back.

I love everything about the Motus, but man oh man, even a few years ago when I could basically afford to ride whatever caught my eye, I wouldn't have dropped $35k on one. I hope they can shave costs as they mfg bigger numbers.

I would have one TOMORROW if I could. American made sport-touring bike, handles well, tons of power/torque, that sound and good suspension and set-up. The motor is designed to run forever with low maintenance. What's not to like?

A ride report on the BMW K1600 forum, it seems pretty good but again - the price!
http://www.k1600forum.com/forum/bike-talk/89850-my-motus-test-ride.html
I still don't understand why they went for a chain drive when they have the ideal crankshaft layout for a shaft like a Guzzi, especially as it is meant to be a sport tourer.
They end up with the complication, weight and expense of power sapping gears to turn the drive through 90 degrees, but a chain drive whose only advantage is for a pure sport bike.

Meh, I've never understood the "I hate chains" crowd. I'm glad they did it with a chain. Lifetime warranty on the rear sprocket and a 20k warranty on the chain itself is fine by me. And you have gearing options too. Not that you'd *need* to alter the gearing. It's perfect the way it is.
As is the rest of the bike. I rode on last Saturday with Lee Conn.
Woo-fucking-hoo, what a beast!

I didn't say that I hate chain drive, in fact I have been alternating between chain drive and shaft drive bikes for several decades now and currently ride a Ducati. I just think turning the drive through 90 degrees is pointless on a bike which is more tourer than sport bike.

You should not anthropomorphize machines. They don't like it.
