Congrats on the sale. I hope it gives you what you need.

Thanks for letting me live in the basement for so long.

You left some stuff over behind the water heater you may want later.

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself to you all. My name is Dwayn and I am a Community Manager for Motorcycle.com and will be joining the site and assisting with the duties.

So Dwayn, tell us a little about yourself.   What motorcycles do you own/have you owned?  What's your riding experience?  Where have you ridden?

Humpf.  I could have sworn I was working at a Y2k company when I found v1.

Good job Neal.  I've actually been penning a reply to your intelligence post (in my head) to let you know how wise I think the direction your moving is and to share some personal experiences along the same lines, only more extreme...

This place is the closest thing I have ever had to an addiction.  I got all twitchy when the servers went down over the years.  This is the only forum of any kind that I frequent.

I surely hope that the ride reports that I've done over the years won't just go away.  I kinda used this site as a picture and video hosting site.   Embarassment

Change is good, mkay?

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself to you all. My name is Dwayn and I am a Community Manager for Motorcycle.com and will be joining the site and assisting with the duties. I am here to help primarily with the technical end of things and help make the jobs of the current staff easier. I posted a real basic run down to answer common questions below. If you have more questions or concerns please feel free to post them or send me a message.

What are our intentions?

We bring reliability, support and the infrastructure needed to ensure that the community will be around for years to come. It’s our goal to work with your board staff to help provide the resources and required to give this community a broader reach, to attract new members to better the overall knowledge shared in the community.

Will leadership change?

Continuity is the focus here, You as the membership work very hard to keep building this community while staff keep the walls and the roof up in this place; We are primarily here to make sure the lights stay on. Every community is unique and should always be respected in that regard. You guys have established your own unique rules and regulations and a strong reputation that is carried by all of this and it’s paramount that we maintain this level of integrity.

What am I here for?

My primary role is to be the technical contact as I said earlier you all built the foundation and keep the roof from falling, I am here keeping the lights on inside. I will be on the forum checking in daily to make sure regular maintenance is all taken care of and keep things running smoothly from behind the scenes.

I do look forward to getting to know you all and this unique community better.
Thanks,
Dwayn

Thanks for everything Skipper.  I stumbled in here when I sold my car and didn't have as much reason to hang out at my old car forum.  Its been a good new hangout and good entertainment over the years.

When will the rates below be implemented?  (Seems to be on all other VS sites...which now own S-T.n)

Not that it matters, I donated to STN in the past and would probably pay if it gets me out of any ads....

All I have to say is thanks Skipper  Bigok as others have said your efforts on this site have introduced me to some amazing people. After several years here I am not sure how I feel about this but I am grateful for what has been accomplished.

Congrats on the sale and making what was surely a difficult decision.

I'd been riding for 12 years before I first signed in here in 2006.  This site has had a huge impact on the bikes I've purchase, rides ridden, and still inspires me to evolve as a rider.

In short, Thank you for creating this place.  Your efforts keeping this place running have rewarded many of us, and are well appreciated.

So, will STN simply be merged into these forums with all of the past threads moved?

http://www.motorcycle.com/forum/

Will we keep our same user names and passwords or will we need to re-register?

For post ho members, will our post count be reset?

Finally, what will happen to the images uploaded to the member's Photo Gallery?

Thanks.

I'll try to answer these, and if I'm wrong just correct me Dwayn.

The forum will not merge.  ST.N will remain ST.N

Thus same user names, same post counts, images in the Photo Gallery remain.  Etc.

Neal,

Thank you for all your contributions to the Motorcycling world.  This place became the first real online "home" I ever felt comfortable with.

You made a difference - and that means a lot.

Here's hoping you continue to pop in once in a while!

Thank you for all the work, Neal. You ran a nice little oasis here for adult riders. Well, chronologically adult, anyway. I hope that the opportunities that will open up for having offloaded all the effort will be everything you hope for.

Dwayn, if you can minimize the pace of changes I'm sure that the change of oversight will go fine. It's the community of members that makes the forum. Keep most of us on board and life will be good.
