Wal… that looks pretty interesting.  Bigsmile

Hokay 'Deer Magnet', about those micro-breweries - are any of them near lodging that is under $100/night? What town would you recommend as a base of operations?

The stories of the deer strikes were amazing. But ! So were his tales about roads around Ashland when you were in Weaverville !!
I love Ashland area and spent a fair bit of time there in the early 80's ! Woo Hoo ! … lets hear more !

I'd ride to Idaho...that's the one downside to having the WCRM in my backyard, no riding to get there, the upside is I get to show all you beautiful people how all my roads belongs to you...Anyway, yes there are a ton of Motels within walking distance of the Caldera brew pub.  Downtown has (Ashland this is btw) Standing Stone and they have a ton of lodging close by there too.  Ashland is really loaded with B&B's also for those who like that sort of thing, I fell in love with B&B's in Europe, usually cheaper than a Motel and good food for brekkie...It would also be eminently possible to have a bbq at my house for up to 25 people on any given night as well...

I rallied and pushed and prodded for Southern Oregon 8 or 9 years ago and am tempted to do it again and here is why:  Loops from 55 miles to 400 miles with a ton of twisites on them, accommodations in every budget range, 3 major motorcycle shops/dealers including the best dealer I've ever dealt with in my 40+ years of riding, world class food and world class micro breweries....just sayin' that sounds like a good weekend to me...oh yeah, one other plus, adv types, there are loops with decent stretches of dirt road as well...

Where in Oregon? I've spent a few days riding in the Baker City area and it was fun, but it's a big state.

Spuds?  Bigsmile

Oregon? Spent a week in La Grande (1/2 way between Baker City and Pendleton on I-84) in Aug  '12. Nice place. According to the local CoC bumpf lots of riding, both on and off-road, in the area. Lots of hills and trees.

I'm thinking when talking Oregon, we're talking about Ashland. Unless you guys want to hang in Spray.

Pretty hard to argue with the Roads around Spray. John Day Highway and 207 come to mind.  Couple of little motels in Spray too. But for our civilized and cultured crowd, perhaps Ashland might be best.  Lol

Fine.

For purely selfish reasons Spray, or any other eastern OR destination, offers me a full day's ride. Fortuna and Eureka are 4 hrs at most. Weaverville? 1 hour.

Don't ask about Redding. It's the hottest place on earth and the only redeeming feature is my toolbox and bike are parked there.

Let me throw out Rexburg, ID. Why? How the fck should I know? We're throwing darts here.

 civilized and cultured

Who are you, and what have you done with bubba?

This is getting interesting, but beyond the scope of my knowledge. The last time I was north of the OR/CA border was a few years before I obtained a drivers license.

Somebody with OR knowledge will need to step up, and suggest locations. Ones that are civilized, and cultured of course.

Spray is not civilized. They have only Coors Light and Budweiser. Empty it from your mind.
