I agree. If he is a widow maybe stopping and talking to people are really the only interactions this guy has. So he's retired and likes to ride his motorcycle a lot. Then he stops and talk to people about it. Yeah maybe showing his mileage off to everyone is a bit overboard but he's proud of it, there's a LOT worse things he could be doing. It may be an inconvenience to some, but personally he sounds like an awesome dude to me.

The bike mentioned in the OP made it to 455k before the motor gave out.  He has a replacement motor and is waiting on a transplant.

He has two other FJRs and a total FJR mileage of more than 1,000,000 kilometers/621,000 miles!

He shows up like clockwork every year at an MSTA event in Marietta, Ohio that is going on it’s 35th year.  Doesn’t stay long, stops by, doesn’t even get off the bike.  Says hello, shows off his mileage, and leaves.  No problems, no worries. He will only stay as long as people want to talk.  Ain’t hurting anyone to say a kind word of encouragement and wish him well, is it?
