Sigh....next year.....again. A week earlier and I could have made it. That weekend I'll be flying off to Maui, which isn't a bad consolation prize in all honesty.  Bigsmile

Yes!

Date and place are set.

See how easy it is?

Starting new job and things are changing at a lightning pace, but I may be able to do this.

I'll be heading to Oakland the weekend before to get the Triumph serviced before heading North.12,000 service is amazingly expensive, estimates range from $750 - 1100 at dealers - Ouch!

I forgot to book and now all they have are kings at $115 per night. I'm going to see what I can find nearby.  Embarassment

I'll be camping - hopefully in Columbia Hills state park, across the river, starting on Saturday. No online reservations after 9/15, so I'll just have to wing it - there's also Memaloose or Deschutes on the Oregon side. Bigsmile

What's the most fun side of the river to travel on from the Portland area?

Since I won't be staying in town, what time should we meet up for dinner and BS? Bigok

Tough call, I like to ride US14 on the Washington side then cross over at the Dalles but on the Oregon side, you can ride the Old Columbia River highway from Troutdale to Hood River.  Lots waterfalls and historic stuff.  http://www.columbiariverhighway.com/

If I were you, I would go down through Randle and the NF roads past the east side of Mt. St. Helens, turn left on US 14 then cross over at The Dalles.  On the return ride the Oregon side then cross at The Bridge of the Gods and head back up the NF roads to Randle.

I'm in Roseburg, working my way North by as circuitous a route as possible.
As for dinner and BS, hang out in the parking lot and see who shows up? Or meet in the bar at cocktail time? I guess we could make a dinner res if we knew who's coming - looks like 3 or 4 if the passport arrives. Anyone else?

So THAT was fun. I see a Triumph from HI in the parking lot. Did Bubba make it across the border?
