CBC News Motorcyclist vanishes on the Cabot Trail ...
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/francois-brodeur-s-mysterious-cape-breton-disappearance-investigated-1.2737310
RCMP are continuing their search for a Quebec motorcyclist who seemingly disappeared without a trace while travelling on Cape Breton's Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia on Thursday.
Francois Brodeur, 55, an experienced rider, was traveling with another rider on the Cabot Trail who was on a different motorcycle ahead of him.
"It’s my understanding that there were two riders riding together, and that the lead rider was keeping an eye on [Brodeur], and then a few minutes later, she looked back and then the man was no longer there. Of course, we patrolled the area extensively to look for him or the bike, and so far, it’s been negative."
I often think about this as I travel tree lined roads. One could go off the road and simply disappear into the brush. If you had a medical event, and there were no tell tale skid marks etc, it would be quite challenging to find you. FLIR on a helicopter perhaps.
Must be very disconcerting for his riding partner.

That's every rider's nightmare. Suddenly your wingman is no longer in your mirror.
Hope they find him before it's too late!

This reminds me of a story I heard when I was in New Zealand.
A rider vanished while out on a ride. 18 years later they found his skeletal remains alongside his motorcycle in thick underbrush on a steep cliff

Same thing happened to a friend several years back in Idaho, there was an extensive search from land and air for several day. Hunters found some of him a few weeks later. Evidence showed he survived the event that left him well off the road yet immobile. That's when I bought a SPOT. Hope they find this cat...

Bubba, when it clicked on your link above, it took me to a report that the rider has been found safe in New Brunswick.
A very strange situation.

Sounds like Francois got tired of their arrangement and practiced his options sans notification... or he's just glued together quite square.

Wow, so he just peeled off and then rode 7 hours in a different direction? Dude was either really pissed off, or had a psychotic break! There must be more to this story!

maybe if they were luddite cellphone deniers! He was 7 hours separated from his riding partner - I can't believe that was an accident!

I change my vote. He was abducted, experiments were performed on his bike and he was released, bewildered, in Newfoundland.

I'd be very surprised if anyone managed to get lost on the Cabot trail as there are very few side roads. It sounds more like an f'ck it, I don't like this road, I don't like you and I'm turning back moment.

I call BS on that. Having ridden the Cabot trail, I doubt any rider would dislike it.

I was there a week ago. The road is great as you say but, it was very wet in the area. Without proper rain gear, it would suck IMO.

Probably it was simply a Hall of Fame caliber relationship termination.
Methinks he won't be riding/with his girlfriend anymore....

Either that or he got sick of going slow and passed her so fast she didn't notice...

I think I have the answer.
They were riding Harley's and the rider in the rear spotted a bar the rider in the front missed?
(This happens a lot with a few people I know)
