Yeah, the red is especially nice.  I like the blue, too, but those seem really, really rare.

My buddy has the black one, kind of a matte, with a black sort of metallic frame.  It has a nice "all-of-a-piece" look, but for me I prefer the red or blue.

How about a slightly different Aprilia....



2000 Pegaso. Paint by me, to cover up some spots where the pavement rubbed the paint kinda thin.   Studded Kenda Trackmasters for winter use.
During the same period in which I've owned the Pegaso, 4, 5, maybe 6 other bikes have come and gone. The Peg is a keeper. It isn't brilliant at any one thing but works well enough at everything.

True, but the 'tona is paid off. I could get at least $5500 for it but that would still give me a bike payment. I wouldn't care if I had a bike payment, the wife might not like it though since all of our money is going towards our housing renovations. Plus, my car died and needs a new engine.

   I wondered the same thing myself. But when I met the seller I found out that he is one busy guy, with a ton O' hobbies. I have wanted a Tuono since 2003. I really wanted an '03 or an '04 as I like the looks of those years much better, I got lucky!

And I've accumulated another Aprilia!  This one's a 2001 Mille R, purchased in 2008 with 8,700 miles.  Only has about 16,000 on it right now and lives in my garage on a tender and rearstand, smelling gently of Lemon Pledge.

If they make a Shiver 1200, I'm there on launch day with a checkbook...would be a great replacement for my 1st-gen Tuono.  The Tuono V4 is a great bike, but it's not for me, and sadly, as much as I liked the bike, there wasn't enough torque in the Shiver 750 to suit me...the Tuono spoils you in that regard.

Yes, it does take a while... simply due to the quantity of stickers!

I used a combination of finger nails, a razor blade, a small plastic scraper and a heat gun (very sparingly). Then, a bit of goof-of to get rid of the bits of leftover glue.

Well... seeing as I'm also James, what's the problem?!

I ride that thing every day and needed somewhere to put my work bag and gym bag. I could sherpa everything in a giant backpack, but that seriously sucks.  Yeah, may not be the prettiest thing, but it works well.

That being said, once I've saved up enough to get my tenere, the top case will come off the tuono.

It definitely is a fun bike! I have logged almost 4k miles since I got it towards the end of July. The bike has been flawless so far. I have only done one "trip" on the bike where I logged 7-800 miles in a weekend. I am still working on a rear rack that will replace the pillion seat delete. When I get it done I will post some pictures of the complete touring set up. I have switched out the clip ons for some woodcraft units. The bar angle is much flatter providing a more comfortable ride. I haven't had any discomfort with the stock seat yet but we will see what happens next spring on my annual week long (2500 miles) trip. Fuel mileage has been great compared to many of the reports I have read. I average around 35mpg combined in town/ hwy/ back roads. With the instant mpg indicator (not sure of accuracy) I have seen as high as 43mpg at a steady 70mph in 6th gear. I did drop one tooth on the front sprocket as the stock gearing was very tall. It did not seem to negatively affect my fuel economy though. I can easily get 130 miles to a tank so the fuel range is not a concern like I thought it might be. I like to stop every 100 miles or so to grab a gatorade or something anyway. So far, so good!!
