When I was young, we lived 5 blocks from Lake Michigan. That made it a great place to grow up .

Funny - I'm looking to get out, in part so my kids grow up somewhere else...

Lack of sun is the thing I least like about west Michigan. I don't think I could ever do the pacific northwest. I'd be a complete alchy

Safe to say you won't come and visit if we end up in Seattle, eh Sammy?

I've moved six times in my 35 years.  The shortest move was 5.1 miles (to current house); the longest move was 174 miles.  With any luck, there's at least one or two more moves coming for us at some point.  NC, WV, and TN are on my short-list of "states nearby" that I'd consider; Flagstaff, Arizona is my dream!

Now now, I wouldn't go that far, Mr. muh. We've got a number of friends who now live in Oregon so we'll be heading out there in the near future. They all love it but they don't mind dreary days. It affects me terribly, although I'm sure the many micro brewerys will help me with that Thumbsup

Having moved six times in 53 years I am convinced one should move at least once every five years just to clear out the excess junk.........

6 times.
Once as a child(Haskins to Iowa City).  Once to college(Iowa City to Kansas City).  Once while in college(within Kansas City).  Once out of college too a new job(Kansas City to St Louis).  Now on my 2nd move in the St Louis area.  And this time might have to be for a while longer, because on this move I bought my first house  Crazy

My wife and I have been together for 29 years. We moved 4-5 times in the 1st few years, apartment hopping, then we lived in our 1st house we owned for 10 years and have been in this house for 11. I have WAY too much crap to move now.

10 moves over the years and that's only including anything in excess of 6 months.

That also doesn't include local moves.

4 different countries.

Longest distances?  Well, Southeast Ontario - Moscow; Moscow - Tokyo; or Tokyo - Manitoba.  Not sure which is longest...

Shortest move - literally across the hall (from one apartment to another in Moscow).
