seriously, never got one so i don't know what would need to be done.  sorry to hear your luck ran out. 35 years is a LONG dang time. something for me to look forward to.

If the officer is not there then plead not guilty then run like hell as soon as the judge dismisses it.  This happened to my son recently in his town.  

As you said, it's different everywhere. At your initial appearance, if you plead Not Guilty the case it then set for trial one month later. So in our area, the officer is never there for the initial appearance.

Our courts do this for traffic accidents.  The victims/witnesses are not there for the first court appearance.  If the person charged pleads NG the case is continued and they are subpoenaed.
