T12 covered in front of
our cottage, where we'll be staying for the month.
Humble brag again?

Very humble, cheap and non-luxury. Not a brag. Costs less than my youngest son's monthly apartment rent.
We brought most of our own food for the month so living costs are about the same (reason the truck was overloaded). Getting around on our bicycles with a few Walmart and Dollar General runs. This tourist town would go broke if they were all like us.

And I spent Friday and Saturday night sleeping in my little cargo trailer.
But, at least this was directly behind my camp.

By the Ferry Crossing. This is how you get to Mustang Island from the North.

Entrance to the Nature Preserve. Still undergoing reconstruction from Hurricane damage a few years back. The ship channel sea wall walkway was washed out.
I was going to park in front of the sign, but the sand was so soft the kickstand was sinking down and wouldn't hold the bike up.

The gazebo in Charlie's Pasture. This is part of the nature preserve that has a birding center, hiking trails, a wildlife refuge with big alligators!

Very nice. Impressions of new bike coming?
It’s about what I expected, having owned a Stelvio and GS. The motor is quite different, but everything else is pretty comparable. This big parallel twin feels more lumpy (like a big thumper) than the other two, and not quite as powerful on the top end.
Very comfortable for long distance traveling (600 mile ride down here) and my shoulders didn’t hurt. Wide bars make a big difference for me. It ran down the highway in the mid-eighties just fine, nice and smooth. The seat seems to tilt forward pushing me into the tank, but there is an easy fix for that, and even with my Air Hawk it was wearing on me. It is narrow at the front but big, wide and firm going back. I like a it more cush in the foam as I done have much natural padding back there.
The handling seems a bit slower than the previous two big adv bikes I’ve had. That may be me just not remembering the others that well. The electronic suspension may be the culprit because I haven’t got it dialed in yet. I’m at “STD +1” on the preload and may need it a bit firmer to get better feel when leaned over. Lots of fine tuning options available.

Nice.
MPG? The FJR probably had a bit more grunt.

Riding from 1200 ft elevation down to sea level I averaged 44.6 mpg. That was going 80 to 85 for a few hours and then 70 for the next 6 hours with the occasional town on back highways, two and 4 lane.
Low end power was about the same, with the FJR having the advantage up high. As would be expected.

Doing a day trip from Port Aransas to Boca Chica Village, site of the SpaceX Starship production and launch facilities.
About 225 miles down there, spend a few hours, and then back to Port Aransas. Supposed to be clear skies, light winds (for this area, meaning under 20mph), and morning temps in the upper 40's with highs mid to upper 70's. A cool front came thru and dropped temps about 10 degrees below average.
I will try to post a few pics after I get back.

Long, mostly boring ride down to Boca Chica Beach and the SpaceX production and Launch Facility. All the videos and pictures on the net don't do the size of this rocket justice. The amazing thing is how close everything is to the road, where people can stop, park and gawk. I have met people from all over the world making the trip down to see this thing. And it is a long trip down there.
I would like to see a launch in person, but that would be the only reason I would make the trip again. Maybe in a car with someone else driving, so I could get a long nap...
BTW, the Tenere 1200 is a really nice touring bike. It ate the miles in a lot of comfort. After a 600 mile day and then this 450 mile day, my body is feeling way better than when doing long days on my FJR. Can't wait to get home to finish setting the bike up and starting to take it on long trips.
