One thing that I did to mine was install the SW Motech Crash bars and a set of highway pegs. It made a big difference being able to shift my leg positioning during a long ride last Sat. (Reg. 6 Meet and Greet)
They look pretty good. Pics tomorrow if you wish

The clamps are surprisingly sturdy.
Ive had other types of products on different bikes and nothing compares to these. Instalation of the bars was very simple.

Both items were puchased from Twisted Throttle. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/

Thanks, Ken. So the hugger and seat cowl were 'genuine' Suzuki aftermarket parts? Don't seem to be listed on Suzuki Canada's accessories web site. One other favor, part#'s on each so I can check with my dealer on the availability in Canada.

Yes, the hugger and the seat cowl are Suzuki parts. I ordered them through Oneida Suzuki. They had (by far) the best prices I was able to find.

Rear hugger: Part #: 990D0-18H80-___
Seat cowl: Part #: 990D0-17HSC-___

The last three digits are the color code. For example, my 2007 ABS model is the metallic blue and the code is YLE. They are listed on the Suzuki US site just so you know...

Hope this helps!!

Where are you in Canada?

I live in Sherwood Park,  Alberta, just slightly east of Edmonton. I have ordered parts from the US many times, but often vendors will only ship UPS or Fed Ex. Both UPS and Fed Ex place large brokerage charges on orders coming from the US. Not many companies will ship USPS any more.

I prefer to get locally where possible because once you add shipping, brokerage charges and exchange, the hot price from the US is not so hot any more. There is also the issue of damage in transit which is a real hassle.

I actually searched the Oneida site and did not come up with either part!

Thanks again for the quick response.

I will print off the part numbers and see what my local Suzuki dealer can tell me. I really like the seat cowl, might go with the hugger if I eventually go with some sort of fender eliminator.

My bad. I got a Suzuki gel seat from Oneida. The hugger and cowl came from everythingsuzuki.com:

Hugger $184: http://shop.everythingsuzuki.com/product.sc?categoryId=78&productId=777

Cowl $160: http://shop.everythingsuzuki.com/product.sc?categoryId=78&productId=1000

Ken, does the seat cowl replace the rear seat, or does it just cover the seat? I am guessing by the look of it, you unbolt the rear seat completely and it is replaced by rear cowl? Is this the case?

Off to my local dealer to see if this part #comes up in the Canuck Suzuki parts system.

If not, was 'Everything Suzuki' a good company to deal with?

That's correct, it replaces the rear seat. I have the gel seat which I took apart and use with the cowl. When I'm going 2-up, I slap the stock seat back on. everythingsuzuki.com was fine to deal with. But I understand they have had some problems, possibly new management during the winter, so you may want to call and make sure they have it in stock and maybe even place the order over the phone so you have a name.

I gave 'Everything Suzuki' a call and I guess they currently don't ship outside of the 48 states. Seat Cowl is not carried by Suzuki Canada. Any other part supplier you have come across that might carry this item you are aware of?

None that I have experience with but you could try:
www.whaccessories.com
www.twistedthrottle.com
www.ronayers.com
www.bikebandit.com

If you don't have any luck, let me know. I'd be glad to help you out with this and ship one to you.

Thanks, Ken

I have contacted Dale Walker at Holeshot. He does not carry currently, but mentioned he will consider special ordering for me. Dale also will ship USPS which avoids the steep import brokerage charges that UPS and Fed Ex have coming into Canada. I know 'Everything Suzuki' uses only UPS.
I have only ordered a few minor parts from Dale in the past, but he has the best customer service out there.

Depending on Dale's final response, I may take you up on your offer!

Ken, was able to ge the seat cover (cowl) through Dale Walker & Holeshot. Basically he does not carry, but he will pick up from a local Suzuki shop for me. Talk about customer service above and beyond! Dale will also ship USPS which works out better for us Canucks as both UPS and Fed Ex hit cross border shipments with stupidly high brokerage charges.

Has anybody here gone from a FJR  1300 to the bandit 1250? I was thinking of the 1250 sea (Canadian bagger model)my FJR is great but man does it throw out a lot of heat .. no problem at home here in  Edmonton   but when I travel  South it is bad!!! Even had a 2.5 foot gas geyser explode from the tank last year in 104 degree heat at Boise Idaho.
Does the Bandit have any issues IE valves , heat,  comfort issues . I find the FJR very comfortable note I have a 2003 model (silver ) I know that the Bandit  has no power issues at all and compares very nicely to the FJR on the power side and may be a better handling bike as it is somewhat lighter
I have to say that the FJR guys don't think that the Bandit is a worthy replacement but IMO the chain drive is fine with me and who cares if the windshield doesn't go up or down??

Hey...I am close.  I sold my fjr due to the fact it was just too fat for me.The bulk and weight just wasnt a lot of fun when I had other bikes to ride. 2 up tho it was fantastic! .I have a lot of runs on the bandit and enjoy it much more..feels like a mustang compared to the  crown vic... it doesnt have the protection of the fjr, which is fine with me as i never got enough airflow on the fjr for my liking..I also found the seat lacking on the bandit as compared, but then again i always need a 500 mile run to get used to any seat, so until then wont judge..The biggest thing for me was the nice efi fueling, as in the Bandit works as it should and my fjr absolutely sucked with the on off efi thing! I also  loved the non turbulent airflow as I got nice clean  neck up airflow and  it felt like i was on a bike again! Neiter comes close to my vfr for me, but  price makes it a winner right now. Will u be happy with one after your fjr? I dunnoo..You need to try one, but would probly be a cheap way to get into a new bike from your fjr. I would have had a bandit last year, but all u can find here was the primer  ones..Smile

BTW..anyone  got any real  results from  the passenger about long distance comfort back there?? And looks like the box just has to be moved back to be comfy?

Good luck.

Completed Mods:

7. Digital Gear Indicator with Adjustable TRE

15. Suzuki Gel Seat

Is this gear indicator very hard to install ?

Also was wondering if the Gel Seat raised or lowered the seat heght? Wider maybe?

And lastly.... is the Bandit easy to get on the centerstand?

The gear indicator is plug-n-play.
The gel seat is just a bit higher and wider.
The Bandit is very easy to get on and off the centerstand as long as you are applying the pressure properly.

Plug and play..... even I can handle that.

I added a Gel seat to the V-Strom and it did the same thing .... wider and a little higher. That is why I asked.

Asked about the centerstand because I had a Suzuki 750 once that was pure hell to get on the centerstand. Every other bike I have had with one has been a piece of cake.

I'm really starting to like the 1250 more and more in its full touring dress. Looks like with the ABS it would be hard to beat for the money.

I really like the looks of the factory chin spoiler, not interested in the full side fairings. I wonder if the chin spoiler would work with the nerf bars?

There might be some issues with the bottom mounts on the SW Motech bars, Im not sure about the Holeshot product.

Gel Pro grips, Acerbis Dual Road hand guards

Would love to see a pic of how you mounted your hand guards and how they look.

That chin spoiler is just awesome and obviously sliders will work if the nerf bars wont.
Thanks for the pic Cookie
