I am looking to do the Hayabusa brake conversion.  I've read how to do it, but I wonder if any one here has done it.  Was it worth it?

I did this to my '01 RS.  Bolts straight on.  Same mounting bolts, same brake lines.  You will need a 5/8" master cylinder if your bike doesn't already have one.
My tokicos came from a late nineties ZX9R.  I suspect samal's did also because of the gunmetal grey finish.
My master cylinder came from an 800 mile 'busa.
The ZRX1100/1200 brakes might also fit.  Several other bikes came with 6 piston tokicos.
Some years of gsx-r look the same at first, but the mounting bolts are not the same distance apart.
Really nice improvement in my sprint's braking.  Well worth the minimal effort to find and install.

Samal,

That is sweet!  I'm looking at a complete set on ebay.  Master Cyl and Calipers.  Can't wait to do this, my 05's brakes suffer from the sponginess and I can't wait to get rid of that this year!

I put 06 Hayabusa calipers on my Trophy.
Easy to do and a major improvement.

I would take brake lines, calipers and make sure you get the Master Cylinder or the conversion wont be worth it. Same applied when I put the R6 brakes on the FJ . Jim buy a set of steel lines to go with them, probably time to replace those old rubbers any way. Smile

Old  Headscratch Twofinger

They are braided steel under the rubber coating. A new master cylinder would be part of the deal for me. Just would like a link to any more details or perhaps I will head over to Triumph RAT for a looksee.

I got a complete master cylinder, lever, and from calipers from an 06 (I think) Busa off EBay for $65 complete.  I thought it was a good deal.

The bolt on was dead easy, but I have not yet completed the upgrade to SS lines on the new set up.

I was actually wondering if I could use the black plastic SS lines from my old stock system currently sitting under the workbench, and use them with the new used busa Master and calipers and save the $100+ on new lines?

Any idea if the would fit properly?

I would have posted this over at Triumph Rat, but their forums seem to be hit or miss lately.

Has anyone used rotors from a busa or zx9?  Would they mount up to our wheels?  I think some wave rotors would look different.   Thumbsup

I used the stock lines as they are braided steel.
The Busa lines that came with the calipers were rubber, and looked cheap.

Straight fit onto the busa master cylinder and calipers?
Cool.

I used the Triumph master cylinder.
The calipers bolted right up to the factory lines.

make sure you get your MC upgraded from 14 mm to 5/8 version - this is done free of charge on any Triumph dealership if you complain about excessive lever travel.  This is the same diameter that is used on busa and kawis, so you can keep the triumph one.  also, stock lines are the best - SS braided, with plastic cover - keep them.  I did use banjo bolts that came with busa calipers - they were slightly longer that triumph stock ones

I was looking into replacing the Master Cyl too.  My local dealer's service manager and I do not get along, so warranty work has been minimal.  I have been servicing my own bike.

The Triumph lines that came stock on my '01 were braided stainless with black rubber covering.  They fit the tokicos.
I bought one new stainless goodridge line straight to the left side.  Goodridge is in the parts unlimited catalog nearly every dealer has.  I measured from the master to the left caliper and ordered the appropriate line and ends.  The only other thing you'll need is crush washers and brake fluid.
Move the double banjo from the right caliper to the master cylinder.  Move the single banjo from the master to the right caliper.  Make sure you zip tie the lines well.  Braided stainless will saw anything it rubs on with suspension and steering movement.

Anyone know about the rotors?  The more I look into the busa brakes, the more I see the 'wave' rotors.  I think it would be trick to complete the swap.

Any rotors fit our sprint hubs?
