Why the hell did I wait so long to buy a BMW?  Headscratch

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/cosmic3/GS095Trip-1.jpg

Since buying this bike, I have only ridden my Harley XL one time: to ride it once before I put it in long term storage! It was like riding a tractor compared to the mighty GS Adv.

I love my BMW. I think my next bike might be a BMW R1200R.

He's got to get those TKC 80's to a dealer so they can charge him $200 to put them on.

Nice ride.  I'm still waiting for the GS with a fairing, or an RT with 19" front wheel option and an extra 1" of suspension travel.  Until then, I'll continue to explore gravel roads with out a GS... but much slower.  PR2's and a 17" front wheel don;t make hte bike track all that well on the loose stuff.  I'm actually considering going to Avon AM43/AM44's on my next tire change.

Naaaa...I took them off and put a set of Metzeler Tourance tires on. That is what you're seeing in that picture. I may keep the TKC or may sell them. I only plan on doing some light off-road in the near future (some gravel or hard packed trails). So the Tourance were better suited for the asphalt and light off road duty.

So far I have found the bike to be outstanding as a highway tourer, commuter and twistie machine. I want to get some more miles under my belt, then I am going to start exploring some more secondary roads in the mountains.

If you're interested in moving them TKCs, just PM me a price on 'em.  Depending on your location, I may even pick them up next month on my annual tour of the US.

Oh, yeah.  NICE BIKE!   Lol

Basco...those new 1200 Adventures are definitely sweet machines!

I was drawn to the look of the 1150. I love the fully painted tank. And for my first BMW (and price I was offered) this was the best way for me.

If all goes well with this GS, I am sure my next "new" purchase will be another BMW. But I have tens of thousands of miles to put on this GS before I begin to think of a 3rd bike!

Well, of course I could sell my Harley to make room for a R1200R. Hmmmmm......................

I've only known one person who owned an R1150 and I was too intimidated by its height to ask to ride it.  (I'm 5'9 with a 31" inseam.)

Bernard sold his bike and moved out of town. Now that I've been watching "The Long Way Down," I really regret missing my opportunity to ride that bike!   Sad

Yeah, it's tall! I am 6'2" 34" so I can flat foot it. There is no way I'd try riding it if I could not flat foot it. With the large tank and seat height you just have to have that control. Some may be able to get away without doing so, but I am not one of them!

Yeah, that's what I kept thinking about.  I didn't want to drop his nice bike on its side!  (I'm jazzed about the new F800GS, so we'll see whether I can actually fit on it.)

Funny thing about Bernard's GS was that it never saw a day of off-road duty. Had I known it was for sale, I would have told you guys about it - it was fairly babied, as these bikes go.

They do offer a lowered version now, straight from the factory. They lower the suspension and the seat height. You might want to check that out at your local BMW dealer.

There seems to be a lot of GS's that do not go off road. Well.....it is a street bike first and foremost. A street bike that IS capable of handling some slow off road work. It is not a dirt bike by far...way to big.

The F800GS is a pretty cool looking bike. I saw a new black and yellow one this weekend. I think it was a test-rider for customers.
