So all you PA folk, help me out here. Most of this route is to facilitate hitting rt's 590, 447, Smith Gap Road, and 125(in this order). This lands me at 0% slab on Saturday. Are these roads worth the extra long ride time? Are there other roads that are much better(read:twistier) than these that I should focus on instead?

I have ridden all those roads and I like 125 the best. I think you will enjoy that road as it starts slow in Pine Grove but picks up with nice curves, as you get closer to Shamokin. From there 61 will move but as you get to Sunbury and get onto 15 it will become slow. To save time 80 to Lock Haven is not a bad ride as there is little traffic.

Good choices, very similar to a route I take, matter of fact, I just might take your route instead.

Interested in sharing your route from SE PA? I'll be starting out just a little south of Philly and am open to suggestions.

BTW: you really should change your screen name to WEEski.

That's nice, but can it be made into jerky?

I keep coming back to the "Avoid Highways" mapping from Google.  Here's mine:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=40.439239,-75.945568&daddr=1452+Woodland+Rd,+Clearfield,+PA+16830&hl=en&geocode=&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=0&sz=13&dirflg=h&sll=40.471502,-76.003761&sspn=0.103948,0.251999&ie=UTF8&z=13

Four hours, 54 minutes.  Damn...  I'd really need to practice longer trips.  Until now, my longest rides have been around an hour.

You'll enjoy the longer ride. Just stop off the road every once in a while to take a pic or get some gas, it'll make it seem like your just taking a few shorter rides strung together. Don't think about the mileage, just focus on the routes.

Martin's Motorsport
has a bunch of great used beginner-friendly bikes listed on their pre-owned page today.   Wink  I see a FZ6, GSX650F, YZF600R, Scrambler, and a Bonnie.  I'm sure your 150cc 250cc scooter could do it, but it would be a challenge.

Edit - I thought it was a 150cc scooter, a 250cc scooter wouldn't be nearly as difficult.  You could even take the highway.

When I need to make time I ride a while on the slab then a take a scenic route to the next slab and so on.  You have to stop every 2-3 hours for gas you might as well make that a diversion.  A good idea is to find roads that follow streams.

Maybe I just have to get better at riding it then... Wink

I still haven't figured out how far I can lean it in turns.  12" wheels and all...  Maybe I am too cautious.

Lean it until you start to hear things scrape, then hang off the inside and lean it some more.   Bigok

I haven't done anything yet, other than figuring that Sunday the 26th would be it with a  May 3 rain date. Been really busy lately. Need to send Dennys an email and make sure that date is OK with them.
