I think we'll be doing the NJ ride as one group this morning.  Please make your own call as to coming due to weather.  While we may get lucky, it could be a wet crappy morning.

My son was nice enough to let me use his ZRX today, because my rear tire isn't arriving til tomorrow.

Its one thing for me to go out and play in the rain on my own bike....Its another on someone else's bike.  I can't see me getting down there by 10am without getting in the heaviest rain that just past thru there, Its heading throughout are whole planned ride area, and not moving fast enough to clear for me by start time..

I'm out.  Sad

You guys have fun.

Jerry - I don't blame you.  I've only got a 15 minute ride to the meet-up and I'm not looking forward to it.

I hate to be a fair weather rider but I think I'll pass on riding today and just do maintenance on the 955 (air & fuel filters and take a peek at the values). It needs to be ready for road trip in Sept. Maybe even work on a tire changing rig.

Due to the weather, we'll have an additional meeting place later in the morning for those who may wish to join us for the DE/PA section of the ride if the weather improves.

1:00pm, Fort Mott State Park in NJ, about 10 minutes south of the Delaware Memorial Bridge off 49. There's no food/gas there, so keep that in mind.

If the weather is still crappy, we'll be calling it a day from there, so use your own judgement as to making the trek over there.

Y'all be safe now! Even though the weather is sub-optimal, I'd trade any of you to be out there.

Ken, made it home OK at 3pm. I had enough fuel, so I didn't have to stop. Had to keep the rev's up at slow speeds, but it didn't quit.
Thanks to the boys for the help, and Deb and Michael for the cold drink.

That great Jim!  How was the weather back?  Pretty much clear for us.  You missed some great roads with minimal debris though.

Home safe and sound after waiting out a hellacious storm that knocked out power during dinner.  Dry but eerie ride home under a very black sky.

To those brave souls who ventured out this morning:

Chris- THANKS for helping with the ride today, and assisting with the route.
Jim - Sorry you had to brave the rain to come down and only get to do NJ farmland. Next time...
kkraenzel - Nice to see you again, hope your ride home was in front of the storm.
mastro2 - Glad to meet you, don't be a stranger on STN rides
Skee - very glad you took a chance and met us for part 2 of the ride
Chris's brother (sorry I forget your name) - nice to meet you, hope to see you again sometime

And for those of you who didn't make the ride today....

..you're getting a second chance on the rain date, 8/23  Bigsmile  Weather permitting I'm going to do it again.  Details to follow, but this will be a 'nice weather only' event.

The weather on the way back was fine. No rain.
The bike is on the battery tender tonite. Tomorrow, I'll get to battery and start looking for a loose connection. Hopefully, that's all it was.

Home - thirsty & dry - my clothes that is; Becks Dark.  Back-tracked home over Smith's Bridge and Ridge Rd; light rain, lots, I mean lots of debris on the road, no traffic lights or power in West Chester area.  Roads dried off and the sun came out around Pottstown.  Pretty uneventful ride home, I had to hold it to about 35 on most of the corners. except for the pick-up that tried to occupy the lane I happened to be riding in.  Not a problem, I was watching him; I've come to expect it.  With the windshield wipers going real fast and the defrosters blowin so hard it must be difficult for some of them drivers to see in the rain.  LOL

IT WAS GREAT TO MEET YOU GUYS.  Sorry I brought the weather over from Pensy.

I made it back... but after the rain.  Dinner was quick, then we stopped by to visit the wife's grandmother who is staying in a nursing home near exit 2 of 295.  Good visit... and a good place to wait out the rain.  By the time visiting hrs. were over, so was the rain.  Bike was wet, but I was dry for the slab home.

Now all I have to do is figure out these under the cabinet lights in the kitchen... I wonder which is more dangerous, DIY lighting projects around the house, or lightning during that thunderstorm...    Lol

Thanks all for the ride, I'll have to check my calendar to see if I can do the ride part II.

I made it home fine after dinner and the torrential storm. Rt 52 was closed about a 1/2 mile North of Buckleys. Downed tree. Undaunted, I pushed on and made my way around the tree in the 6" of shoulder it didn't block. You can't stop a Harley with a mere tree. Bigsmile

I got home to no power and it's expected to be out til about 2AM. Ugh... (posting from phone)

Great day today. I had a ball.
