Virginia Blue Ridge Riders

Looking like I might wind up moving to North Carolina about 45 miles south of Fancy Gap, Virginia. I have ridden and enjoyed the southern most part of the Blue Ridge but was wondering what type of ride to expect if I get on at Fancy Gap and head either north or south.
Hate to be so far from the Cherohala Skyway but sometimes you have to find new places to ride. Thanks to all and ride safe.

I was down there last week. It's beautiful, both on the BRP and other roads. US221 from Independence, VA has some very sporting sections, and the Blowing Rock Highway south of Boone is quite technical and beautiful, too. US52 is also a fine road.

It's very nice country, but it's going to be gentler than the Smokies between Knoxville and Waynesville. The mountains are simply smaller.

I enjoy the BRP for what it is.  Though, it's much better further south before and after Asheville.

There are several excellent roads north of Morganton, NC up to Roanoke, VA which are within a day's ride from where I'm at and would be happy to share with you what I've found so far.
