Trashy Neighbors

So, my neighbors are getting on my nerves. They won't talk to us because we are a lot younger and they think they are better than us. They are probably in their mid to late 50's I am 31. Anyways, I keep my yard groomed, and the house in good order, I am very proud of my home. They are the opposite. Most of this stuff doesn't really bother me, but they keep overfilling their garbage can and then either the wind blows it over of animals get into it. Then I wake up in the morning to find their garbage all over my yard. Last time this happened, I watched this guy pick the stuff up in his driveway, then leave and go to work leaving a HUGE mess on my lawn!
Here's a picture from this afternoon, you be the judge. (P.S. Trash day was YESTERDAY!)

type up a note and stuff it on their mailbox, signed..."all of us".
Then file a complaint with the neighborhood association, town, city, etc... Be sure to keep it anonymous.
That kind of stuff really bugs me too. Have a little pride!
Now sweep off your driveway!

Geez, cut me a little slack, I just cut the grass this morning then it drizzled for a while. I blew off the driveway about an hour ago
I have half a mind to print this picture and stuff it in their mailbox, but the point of view from the camera would give me away. Me and the Wife have been debating a call to the HOA. I really hate starting trouble in the neighborhood, but it looks like it may come to that.

Our rural development has many homeowners who have built detached garages (out buildings). Some of them have 6 garage bays. Most of them have 5-6 cars sitting in their driveway.
Some of beautiful lawns (of the houses I can see from the road). Others never had landscaping put in so their lawns are compose of mowed weeds.
Oh well, we still enjoy living in the boonies.

I have the very same issue right now.
Neighbors siding is covered with mold and their front flower bed has unplanted pots and a pile of gravel thats been there for 2 months.
I'm about to explode on them.
Not sure If I am going to confront them about it or just call Homeowners and hope for the best.

You guys need to chill out. Yamatech- I learned a long time ago never to make a stink- just deal with the problem.
Story that is going to piss off alot of people:
As a younger man on the farm, our nieghbors had a mean dog- some pitbull/rottweiler thing. This freaking thing would roam their land and ours- but mostly stayed on theirs. One day it was on our farmland in one of the fields out back. I yelled at it to go home- it growled and took a few steps towards me. I picked up a branch, and I slowly backed away, went home, and thought about what to do. If I called animal control, they would know it was me- cause I would have made a formal complaint. If anything happens to the dog, they know who to blame. So, the next time I saw it out back, I took the rifle. Same deal- dog saw me, I yelled at it to go home, it growled and began walking towards me, so I shot it, dug a big hole, buried it, and never said a word about it. Problem solved and I still got along well with the neighbors. They assumed the dog got hit by a car or ran away. Decent enough folk- just couldn't manage their pet. Shame the dog had to die, but hey- so it goes. I took no joy in it but something had to be done. Long and ugly legal issues or one quick shot and 30 minutes of work. The decision was easy.
Sneak over at night and burn their car down. They'll have to do something.
Just kidding. Don't burn their car. If it bothers you that much get ready for a long, ugly battle. Sometimes it's easier just to accept it, IMO.

That stuff is so trivial. Obviously, you have never lived close to real white trash.

Why bother? Just contact the HOA and be done with it. This is one example of HOA's providing a tangible function. Either your HOA or association management group should handle this one.
Your name doesn't/shouldn't ever even be raised in the complaint.

Why bother? What the hell happened to taking care of your own problems? You might even learn something about the neighbor you didn't know before. Maybe they are taking care of a disabled kid. A old and feeble parent. Who knows. Maybe they are just lazy as fuck. But that's what's wrong today. Unless you have good reason to believe that by going over there you'll cause possible danger to your family or property by some vindictive neighbors then why not give it a try? I can't recall how many times I was called over the years by someone who wanted to tell me about some damn petty BS complaint about their neighbor. When I asked if they already spoke to the offending neighbor you would have thought I was speaking a foreign language. I don't know this situation in its entirety but it certainly seems like talking one on one with the neighbor might be the next step. You never know. You might see some progress being made.

No way in hell. I've had one run in with a neighbor over the most innoculous bullshit you could imagine and learned my lesson.
You might be right and it might go over swell. Or your neighbor may be fuck-all crazy and go off the deep end. THEN, when the HOA comes over to issue violations, who do you think the neighbor is going to be giving the ugly eye?
BF, I know you have plenty of years of professional experience with this, and I'm surprised that you would suggest talking it out. How many fights have you been called out to that started as a neighborly chat about cleaning up the neighborhood?
As long as there's been land ownership in this country, there have been battles fought over individual rights to be as fucked up as a person wants to be.
When my neighbor's trash blows into my yard, I shake my head and pick it up. Better that than a brick through my windshield over a misunderstood neighborly request.
YMMV, offer not valid in your hometown, no reproduction without the express written consent of Minor League Air Hockey, discontinue use if you experience and erection lasting more than four hours.

Plant some bushes and quit whining. I'm glad I can't see my neighbors where I live. Nobody to bitch about what I do.
